This week I line-danced with a British representative of Médecins Sans Frontières, experienced a weather change from 25 degrees Celsius and sunny to below freezing with a foot of snow in the same place within 24 hours and yet the strangest thing about my week was the ticket purchase I made for the event above.
Art Spiegelman, a Pulitzer Prize winner and the godfather of graphic novels, is coming to Toronto on January 26th to talk to us mortals about his art and art in general. Tickets went on sale earlier this week but I didn’t have a chance to pick mine up until today and I was so worried that tickets might be sold out.
I purchased ticket #13 meaning there are approximately 12 other Torontonians who have their priorities straight. Y’all have read Maus, right? Who are you people that are too busy to mosey on over to the Beguiling (601 Markham Street, that’s close to where you are right now, right?) and buy your tickets to hear this man speak.
Art Spiegelman: What the %@&*! happened to comics? is at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema on January 26th 2015 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $39 or $29 for students and available in person at The Beguiling.
The Art Gallery of Ontario will present an exhibition of Spiegelman’s work from December 20 2014 to March 14 2015.
I am very excited for both events and you should be too.
